Carry out an assessment of the risks involved in handling the samples and chemicals used; refer to the relevant safety data sheets and suppliers’ literature. Record the details. Wear appropriate personal protective equipment. Work in accordance with local environmental and Health & Safety rules.

PROCEDURE操作程序

1. Degrease and abrade the test panels. Coat the panels by spray to the specified film thickness, and dry in a horizontal position to ensure that a uniform coating is achieved. Allow the coated panels to dry/cure under the recommended conditions for the specified time.脱脂和摩擦这些检测样板

(At least duplicate panels must be prepared for each coating under test.)（至少每个样品两块板）

2. Weigh the panels to four decimal places.

(To operate the Taber Abraser, refer to the manufacturers instructions.)

3. Set the vacuum level to 70% to ensure that all dust is removed from the panels during testing. The abraser wheels must be the correct grade and have been refaced according to instructions given in the instruction manual (30 cycles or until clean is recommended).

Fix the panel(s) to the turntable, lower the weight agreed for the test, usually to give a 1kg load, onto the panel(s) and lower the vacuum head(s) into position.

4. Subject the specimens to the number of test cycles, usually 1000, under the set load, usually 1kg. Reweigh the dust free panels and resurface the abrading wheels. Replace the panels on the turntables, but alternate the position of each panel so that each panel is subjected to a further number of cycles by the other set of wheels. Repeat the abrasion test and reweigh the panels.
